Henry Jenkins “spreadability”

Participatory culture - “Spreadability: is how fast and successful something spreads”
Viral used to be identified as something negative, as an infection, it used to be a medical term only. Now in the dictionary viral is something that spreads around the internet quickly and most likely has a positive response.
So the more people react to for example a video, the more viral it gets. As people share, comment and like it spreads around the internet just like a virus.
If a video have access to sharable platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and other social medias, it will most likely be shred and gain somewhat attention. However if the content doesn't appeal, doesn't seem interesting, shocking, doesn't pick up any emotions it will have a very big chance of dying out and not being known by anyone. So the challenge is something that has people's involvement, something that appeals to the audience.
