Radiohead through Richard Dyer

Target audience:
Radiohead is often described as depressing and weird, so their main target audience is anywhere from 14 to 30, because many teenagers are depressed and then it just kind of stays with them till they find happiness.

USP:
Radiohead are quite distant from everything, their USP is that they are lost and this music is how they feel. Particularly Thom Yorke who is the lead singer and starter of Radiohead is very aesthetic, everyone who has ever been to his concerts remembers his odd seizure like dancing and beautiful unique voice.

What does their website, music videos and albums have in common?:
First of all I think when you look at those three, it all makes sense. They are all very confusing and unusual. Most of the music videos have deep political meanings, but shot in a very abstract way. Same with the album covers which are sometimes colorful but still somehow depressing. And finally their website is almost like a minimalistic maze which is hard to get lost in but it's possible.
I would say the one similarity they all share is dull colors and it all makes you confused nothing is straight forward with Radiohead.

 Ideology:
I would say Radiohead stand for freedom of thought, the quite strongly stand against the government. So their main movement is to go against the flow and do what you want.

Richard Dyer:
Richard would categorize Radiohead as rebellious and outstanding. Their image isn't meant to be in any way attractive, it's all purely messages in the lyrics, trying to relate to depressed teenagers. In a way they feed the depressed teenagers.
Outside of preforming Radiohead are generous and communicate withe the fans quite well, they often take the time to give each one an autograph, but they are still distant. It is also very common to see them "in real life" on the street, parks and restaurants. So mainly everyone knows Radiohead as these crazy preforming dudes and just normal everyday people on the street. They don't have any signature costumes or stunts it's all purely music.

Are they a successful campaign?:
I believe so. They have always been a sad mood band and they have achieved being the most depressing and emotional band in history. I think Radiohead fans are very odd people and definitely have an "emo" type.
